I am a blessed woman. Last evening I enjoyed a delightful evening with my Bible Study friends and their families celebrating America’s 232 birthday. We enjoyed a potluck dinner with a wonderful array of shiska-bobs, salads, and vegetables, There were various conversations around the deck, lots of laughter and a small fire in the fire pit. The desserts were amazing — buttermilk cake, lemon cookies, fruit cups and homemade cookies!
We had a brand new baby (born Tuesday evening) visit us (one of our Bible Study friends is her grandmother – that is our first) — and every woman ahhed when she cried!! We had several tweenagers running around between our neighbor’s house and our’s. Of course, Sassy was going around begging people for a taste of their food. Then to top it off, our youngest daughter came home from a week long trip to a National Youth Convention. It was wonderful to hold her in my arms again and after everyone left, to hear about her trip.
Topping the evening off was a fire works display from our next door neighbors – she is also in our Bible Study. We oohed & ahhed at the display of lights that was displayed over our driveways. It was great fun.
The evening ended as people lingered talking, snacking on the left overs and packing things up to head home.
It was a simple evening – family, friends, fireworks and freedom celebrated!! Thank you Lord for the simple blessings of our Fourth of July celebration.
