Today, Alycia had 2 job interviews. She called me after the first one to see if I had time to meet her for lunch, which I did
. We enjoyed salads at Panera Bread, had a few minutes to shop for her upcoming birthday and then off she went to her next appointment. I was suppose to head to a meeting as well – but for some reason I decided to call and cancel the meeting. That is so unlike me, I do not like to cancel appointments for any reason – and this time, even though I did not have a reason, I just felt like I should stick around the area until after her interview. So I meandered around a few stores and sent Alycia a text message that I was still around.
About an hour later, she called me and I answered expecting the news about her interview. Instead, she tells me that there is something is wrong with her car, a terrible sound from her back tire, and could I come and meet her. I got in my trusty “old new Cavalier” and met her. Her car certianly was broken – the belts in her back left tire had completely broke and there was no way she would be able to drive anywhere. The tire was completely busted open!! She expressed over and over again, how glad she was that I stuck around and could help her.
Interesting isn’t it – I had no reason to stay, as a matter of fact, I had an appointment that I was suppose to be at. Yet, a mother knows….I honestly believe it is a gift the Lord gives us as mothers. Listen to your mom intuitions about your kids – even when they don’t make sense. Stick around even if you have an appointment to go to – if the Holy Spirit is leading you to stay — then stay. Even though it was a fairly simple problem to fix (and she didn’t really need me) it was just nice for us to be able to spend another hour together while the tire was replaced.
Look what I found from Piglet’s Big Movie Soundtrack … A song about a Mother’s Intuition (I have always loved Winnie the Pooh & his friends…)

A Mother’s Intuition
by Carly Simon
To make a little space
It’s her quiet mission to tidy up her place
A mother’s intuition is like a kangaroo’s
She hops around, she mops the ground
She fusses over you
With her intuition
Will know just what to do
Well she won’t forget behind the ears
And the extra soap suds on the tail
A mother’s into cleaning
She’ll clean until she’s through
She’s smart enough
She’s wise enough
To add up two and two
With her intuition
Will know just what to do
She pays special attention
If someone is concealing
If someone’s playing tricks
She rubs and scrubs and scours the secrets
Until the answer clicks
And polishes your teeth
She’ll make you shine and sparkle new
Until she finds the real you
Underneath
Just mommy and little Roo
Fresh as a daisy
Sparkling just like new
It’s a mother’s intuition
It’s a mother’s intuition
Moms, listen to the “crazy” voices in your head – God has given you feelings and insight and most probably there is a reason for your feelings!

I made the blog two times in a row!!! YEY! I am glad that you were there with me this afternoon. Thanks for being a great mom!
Wow, Sandy — what a story and a testimony to God’s whisper being heard by a mom — intuition is very real and in this case, the Holy-Spirit talking. You and your daughter are a blessing for one another.
