Your Story ~ Share it
April 9, 2008 by sandrajo
Today at our MOPS meeting, we had our annual Tea & Treasures meeting where several MOPS Moms shared how God has been at work in their lives. Even though this was the 6th year I have been part of Tea & Treasures - it was still a very special meeting for me.
To hear how God has purposely worked in another’s life is always amazing. As I listened to a very dear Mom share her story with great vulnerability, I was touched by the power of God’s work in her life. She was simply beautiful as she spoke. Moms were hanging on her every word, everyone (except for a few babies J) was listening intently. I know that God used (and is using) her story in the lives of our MOPS Moms. Our MOPS Steering is now praying for the Holy Spirit to reveal to our moms the empty places in their lives that can only be filled by God.
In The Purpose Driven Life (Page 290), Rick Warren encourages us to Share Your Life Message (chapter 37). He states, “There is no other story just like yours, so only you can share it. If you don’t share it, it will be lost forever. You may not be a Bible scholar, but you are the authority on your life, and it’s hard to argue with personal experience.”
and
“Shared stories build a relational bridge that Jesus can walk across from your heart to theirs.”
Today, I had the privilege to be part of a shared story of journeying over that bridge from emptiness to wholeness. It was not through the world’s standards of “pulling yourself up by your boot straps”, but one of the work of God gently drawing this woman to Himself through her life experiences. It was again a great joy for me to hear another’s story of faith.
The Lord continues to give me a passion for encouraging people to share their story - first through Reminders of Faith and now through my work with Share HIS Story. The Purpose Driven Life (page 292-293) goes on to say, “As you grow closer to Him (God), He will give you a passion for something He cares about deeply so you can be a spokesman for Him in the world. It may be a passion about a problem, a purpose, a principle, or a group of people. Whatever it is, you will feel compelled to speak up about it and do what you can to make a difference. God gives us different passions so that everything He wants done in the world will get done.”
I know that God has given me a passion about remembering God’s story in our lives. So I encourage you to share your story with your family or a friend. Or better yet, take time to record it for someone to read (now or in the future). You will probably be the one who is amazed of all that God has done in your life! After all, it really is God’s story that you are sharing.
As Share His Story theme says …Share HIS Story by Sharing Yours.
